Our Appeal
Two years have passed since the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, yet the situation remains unresolved. Some 150,000 people were evacuated and have still not received satisfactory compensation, forcing them to live in extremely tough conditions. Despite this, the government has stated its intentions to continue using nuclear power, aiming to restart nuclear plants and export nuclear power generation. Such actions are being undertaken as if the Fukushima catastrophe never happened.
The government is looking to restart several nuclear power plants this autumn based on the enactment of new regulatory standards. An overwhelming majority of Japanese people want to rid the country of nuclear power and cannot see a single reason for keeping the plants. We are squarely against the stance of the government to restart nuclear plants.
The joint protest for No Nukes Day on June 2 (Sunday) aptly portrayed the opinion of people in Japan. Now we are asking for individuals and organizations to come together on October 13 (Sunday) for the next No Nukes Day to protest the impending restart of nuclear power plants. Let’s all join together and show a united front to force the government to move toward zero nuclear power generation.
